DESCRIPTION:From the award-winning team behind Cocaine Bear: The Opera (Patron’s Pick and Best of Fringe)\, comes Heated Ribaldry: An Opera of Musical Proportions—a wildly entertaining\, high-energy parody that blends opera\, musical theatre\, dance\, and just the right amount of scandal. \nInspired by the hit TV series Heated Rivalry\, this unapologetically bold production follows superstar hockey rivals Ilya and Shane\, whose on-ice competition melts into something far more unexpected. Featuring live music\, sultry choreography\, and a delightfully over-the-top Russian dream ballet\, this is Fringe at its most fearless. \n“The mission of Opera del Sol is to bring opera to people who would normally not attend it\,” says Artistic Director and show writer Eric Pinder. “And what better way to do that than with hockey\, humor\, and a bunch of super attractive gay men? Just like in Cocaine Bear\, I’ve taken existing music and changed the lyrics to tell this story.” \nKnown for his signature style of reimagining familiar music with entirely new (and often hilarious) lyrics\, Pinder leans fully into the absurdity and heart of Fringe storytelling. \n“I’m uniquely qualified to write this show\, as my three major interests are hockey\, gay men\, and opera — not necessarily in that order\,” says Pinder.  \nPinder is joined by Music Director\, Victoria Wells (The Music Man\, in Concert and Operatic Double Bill) whose talent for delivering incredible musical performances promises the singing will shine. Starring Eli Hamilton as Shane and Ethan Garrepy as Ilya\, the production features a dynamic ensemble including John Teixeira as Scott\, Derrick Taylor-White as Kip\,  and Aaliyah Amarante\, Roselyn Garcia\, Daniel Martinez the ensemble —delivering powerhouse vocals\, bold characters\, and undeniable chemistry.  \nWhether you’re an opera aficionado\, a Fringe junkie\, or someone who’s never set foot in either world\, Heated Ribaldry will be the show everyone is talking about at this year’s festival. DESCRIPTION:For Ages 7-12 \nAcross one creative week\, students step into the full creative world of musical theatre. Through collaboration and guided instruction\, participants create and present an original production imagined\, designed\, and performed by the students themselves. From shaping storylines and dialogue to designing visual elements and performing on stage\, every child plays an active role in bringing the final production to life. \nEach student also performs a solo vocal presentation\, building confidence\, expressive ability\, and comfort in the spotlight. Beyond performance skills\, the program encourages teamwork\, independence\, and connection\, laying a strong foundation for artistic and personal growth. \nRegistration for Summer Institute is now open. Enrollment is limited to 50 students per session to ensure individualized attention and a high-quality experience. Scholarships are available for families with demonstrated financial need\, supporting CFVA’s commitment to accessible\, inclusive\, and transformative arts education.
