Central Florida Vocal Arts Opens 14th Season with The Music Man, in Concert, followed by Sunday In the Park With George
A beloved American musical returns—featuring full orchestra, stellar local talent, and a message of community and hope.
ORLANDO, FL – July 16, 2025 – Central Florida Vocal Arts proudly kicks off its 2025–2026 Season, Picture Perfect: Idealism on Stage, with The Music Man, in Concert—a rousing celebration of community, redemption, and the transformative power of music. This joyful, heartwarming production takes the stage August 22–24, 2025, at the Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, featuring the lush accompaniment of the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra and a vibrant cast of professional and emerging Central Florida talent.
Set in early 20th-century Iowa, Meredith Willson’s iconic musical follows charismatic con man Harold Hill as he attempts to swindle the unsuspecting citizens of River City. His plan? Sell them instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he has no intention of leading. But when Harold unexpectedly falls for Marian Paroo, the town librarian, his scheme—and his heart—begin to change. Featuring classics like “Seventy-Six Trombones,” “Till There Was You,” and “Ya Got Trouble,” The Music Man remains a timeless tribute to the power of connection and transformation.
“This show is everything we need right now,” says CFVA Founder and Executive Director Theresa Smith-Levin. “It reminds us that even when things aren’t what they seem, love and music have the power to change everything—for individuals and for entire communities.”
Returning to direct is Brandy Eleazar, whose previous CFVA production of The Sound of Music in 2022 was among the company’s most acclaimed. The cast features celebrated alumni including Christopher Fahmie as Harold Hill (The Ballad of Baby Doe, Dracula) and McKenzie Pollock as Marian Paroo (A Little Night Music, Dracula), alongside rising stars like Miranda Graham (Mrs. Paroo), Will Booker (Marcellus Washburn), and Emily Crain (Alma Hix). The production also highlights CFVA’s commitment to youth arts education, with a standout youth ensemble including Axel Rimmele, last seen as Colin in The Secret Garden and recently returned from the national tour of Mrs. Doubtfire.
This production is generously sponsored by The Mayflower Winter Park and presented in concert format with full orchestra and minimal staging, allowing the musical brilliance of Willson’s score to take center stage. The collaboration with Space Coast Symphony Orchestra brings together Central Florida’s finest instrumentalists for a weekend of exceptional artistry.
